Kit:
Our kit is essential because with quality professional equipment we can create the best quality content. We buy our cameras second-hand so they haven't depreciated in value when we need to replace or upgrade them. The lower cost of used kit means we are able to have a BBC broadcast approved camera and a more lightweight and portable handheld professional HD camcorder for roaming and reporting.
Below is a list of essential items we use regularly plus items we need but can't afford at the moment.
If you are in a position to donate any of these items to High Peak TV you would be helping us save money, giving us more of a chance to make top quality content for charities and good causes for free.
Some readily available items have a link to where they can be bought online - just contact us for our delivery address!
Urgent needs:
CompactFlash cards.
Our main camera is a Canon XF300 - a digital camcorder approved for use in BBC broadcasts and productions. This camera uses compact flash cards with lots of memory to capture and store superior quality HD video.
128GB is enough memory to record for over three hours without having to change cards.
These are currently available from Amazon for around £100. Buy one here!
SD cards.
Our second camera is a JVC GY-HM150E - a lightweight professional camcorder with useful broadcast features. This camera uses SD cards with lots of memory to capture and store HD video.
128GB is enough memory to record for over six hours without having to change cards.
These are currently available from Amazon for around £20. Buy one here!
External Solid State Drives.
HD video takes a tremendous amount of memory. In the past we have had requests for old footage that we unfortunately had to delete to free up space for ongoing projects.
1TB is enough memory to store more than a month's worth of raw footage and completed videos at our current rate of recording. Portable SSDs are also useful for editing on the go.
These are currently available from Amazon for around £95. Buy one here!
Professional Tripod
Our second camera needs a professional tripod with a fluid action head. Our current tripod is a very basic one we found in a charity shop which is jerky when panning and tilting. The difference this will make to the quality of our location footage will be instantly noticably better.
These are currently available from Amazon for around £150. Buy one here!
